New program announced seeking final budget allocation for pay scale

The Bangladesh Government Officers and Employees Welfare Association has announced a program demanding the speedy formulation of the final recommendations for the 9th pay scale, allocation of necessary funds in the upcoming budget, and issuance of a notification.

The organization said that a silent procession will be held in the capital tomorrow, Saturday (May 16), and a rally and discussion meeting will be held at the National Press Club later to achieve their demands.

The program was confirmed in a statement signed by Ashiqul Islam, member secretary of the central convening committee of the Bangladesh Government Officials and Employees Welfare Association.

The statement said that a silent procession will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 3 pm to demand the speedy formulation of the final recommendations of the secretarial committee for the implementation of the 9th pay scale, the issuance of a notification with the necessary allocation in the upcoming budget, and after the procession, a central representative rally and discussion meeting will be organized at the Abdus Salam Hall of the National Press Club at 3.30 pm on the occasion of the Bangladesh Government Employees Welfare Association.

The organization also said that to ensure media presence in the implementation of the program, the relevant newspapers and organizations have been requested to send one reporter and photojournalist each.
